Rain

How Soundwell synthesizes a rain texture and the controls that shape its activity and character.

Definition#

Rain is a synthesized texture that combines a diffuse background with individual nearby drops.

How Soundwell generates it#

Soundwell varies the timing and character of generated rain events so the texture can move between a steadier wash and more distinct drops.

Rain has its own enable control and volume. Opening its settings or changing a parameter does not enable it or start playback.

Output requirements#

Rain works through headphones or speakers and does not require stereo channel separation. Soundwell creates it locally without recordings.

Listening notes#

Intensity changes the overall activity. Drop Size and Drop Detail shape the presence of individual drops, while Brightness changes the tonal character. Irregularity makes the activity more or less even over time.
