Sound type
Bass Drone
How Soundwell generates a sustained low-frequency tone with optional level modulation.
Definition#
A bass drone is a sustained low-frequency tone. It holds one pitch instead of moving through a sequence of notes.
How Soundwell generates it#
Soundwell generates the drone with a sine, triangle, or sawtooth waveform at the selected Pitch.
Modulation changes the drone's level over time. Modulation Rate sets how quickly the level changes. Modulation Depth sets the size of that change. At 0% depth, the level remains steady.
Output requirements#
The Bass Drone does not require stereo channel separation. It works through headphones or speakers.
The connected output's frequency range affects how much of a low-frequency tone it can reproduce.
Parameters
| Parameter | Values | Default | Function |
|---|---|---|---|
| Pitch | 20–100 Hz | 50 Hz | Sets the frequency of the drone. |
| Waveform | Sine, Triangle, or Sawtooth | Sine | Sets the waveform used to generate the drone. |
| Modulation Rate | 0.01–1 Hz | 0.1 Hz | Sets how quickly the drone changes in volume. |
| Modulation Depth | 0–100% | 0% | Sets how much the drone changes in volume. |
